Our story

It began with one family's masikam

Over eighteen years ago, a neighbouring family in Saroor Nagar needed someone to cook for a masikam — someone who knew the menu, followed madi, and would have everything ready before the purohit arrived. We cooked that meal. The next month they called again, and then their relatives did.

That is how Vigneshwara Caterers grew: from one family to the next, almost entirely by word of mouth. Today we cook for sutak days, the 13th day, every masikam of the first year, aabdikam and yearly taddinam, and for happier occasions like Upanayanam, Gruhapravesam and Srimantham.

We named the kitchen after Lord Vigneshwara, remover of obstacles, because that is our job on the day — the family should only have to think about the ritual, never about the food.

Our vision & mission

Why we cook, and the promises we keep every time we do.

Our vision

To be the kitchen Hyderabad's families think of first when a ritual has to be done right — keeping traditional Telugu Brahmin cooking alive, one leaf at a time.

As families grow smaller and busier, fewer homes have elders who can cook a full shraddha or masikam menu. We want that knowledge to stay available, correct and unhurried, for every family that needs it.

Our mission

  • Cook every ritual meal by shastra

Follow madi, achara and the family's own customs from the first chop to the last serving.

  • Stay small on purpose

Cater only for 1 to 50 guests, so every leaf gets the attention of a home kitchen.

  • Be there on time, every time

Have the food ready before the muhurtham — at your home or delivered to your door.

  • Make it easy for grieving families

Plan the masikams and ceremonies of the first year for you, with clear menus and fair prices agreed upfront.

How we cook

Ritual food is not the same as function food. These are the rules our kitchen never bends.

See home cooking

Madi and achara

Cooks bathe and wear madi clothes before cooking for rituals. Vessels are kept separate, and naivedyam is prepared first and kept untouched.

Menus that follow shastra

Shraddha and masikam menus are made without onion and garlic, using only the vegetables tradition allows. Your family's list always comes first.

Fresh on the day

Nothing is cooked the night before. Pulihora, pappu, garelu and payasam are made on the morning they are served.

Honest ingredients

Pure ghee, cold-pressed oil, fresh vegetables bought daily and rice we have used for years. No colours, no shortcuts.

Respect for your home

When we cook at your place, we work quietly around the ritual and leave the kitchen as clean as we found it.

Patience with every question

Not sure what the 13th day needs, or when the Tripaksham falls? Ask us. We have answered these questions for years.

Why we only cook for up to 50 guests

Most caterers want bigger orders. We have chosen the opposite.

A masikam might be for five people. A 13th day feast is rarely more than forty. These are the meals where every item has to be exactly right, and where the family notices if the charu tastes different from last month.

Keeping to small numbers means the same experienced hands cook your food each time, nothing is mass-produced, and no order is ever too small for us to take seriously.

1–5 Masikam & taddinam for the bhoktas and close family
5–15 Sutak daily meals for the household
20–50 13th day feast, aabdikam, samskaras and family events

What we are known for

Mourning and shradh catering is the heart of our work. We bring the same care to happier occasions.

When a family calls us after losing someone, they are trusting us with their parent's memory. We cook every one of those meals as if it were for our own home.
