13th day remembrance feast

The Subhasweekaram meal for family and relatives — prepared with care, served on the leaf, and ready on time, so you can be with your family.

Also called Subhasweekaram or Vaikunta Samaradhana

The day the family comes together again

The 13th day closes the mourning period. Relatives travel in, the rituals are completed, and a feast is served in memory of the one who has gone.

It is often the largest meal of the whole period, and it arrives when the family is most tired. We take the entire kitchen off your hands — the menu, the groceries, the cooking, the serving and the clean-up — for up to 50 guests.

With 18+ years of cooking for these ceremonies, we know the timing, the items elders expect to see on the leaf, and the quiet, respectful way the day should be handled.

We can look after the whole day

Relatives arrive early and many stay until evening. Book only the feast, or let us take care of every meal of the day.

Timings follow the purohit's schedule for the ritual. We confirm them with you the day before.
  1. Morning, as relatives arrive

    Coffee, tea & tiffin

Filter coffee and a simple tiffin like upma or pongal, so guests travelling in are looked after.

  2. During the ritual

    Items for the purohit

Anything the ceremony needs from the kitchen is prepared first and kept ready, as the purohit requires.

  3. After the ritual

    The remembrance feast

The full meal served on banana leaves, in batches if needed, until every guest has eaten.

  4. Evening

    Snacks & coffee

A light evening snack for the family and relatives who stay on.

  5. When everyone has eaten

    Clean-up

We clear the cooking and serving area and take our vessels back.

Three starting points. Every menu can be changed to follow your family's custom — add, remove or swap any item.

Many families keep the 13th day meal free of onion and garlic. Tell us your custom and any items your elders expect, and we will follow it.
